With the global publishing program for its Moshi Monsters brand humming along nicely, Mind Candy has now appointed Penguin as the exclusive global publisher for each new property and IP it develops over the next three years.

Penguin’s Moshi product range has sold 1.4 million books sold in the UK alone since July 2010, and the publisher also produced a Buster’s Lost Moshlings app for the brand.

The two companies will now work together to create original, cross-platform brands with global appeal. For better synergy, Penguin Children’s new business and IP acquisitions director Eric Huang is joining Mind Candy as director of development. Working with him on developing new IPs at Penguin will be acquisitions manager Rich Haines and licensing publisher Juliet Matthews.

Mind Candy made a big publishing push last June for Moshi Monsters. The kid-driven virtual world currently boasts about 70 million users.
